Odunlade Adekola is a well known Nigerian actor, director, singer, producer and filmmaker. He mainly plays in Yoruba films. He was born on December 31, 1978 in Abeokuta, Ogun state, to the son of the pastor and deaconess Adekola. He began acting at a very tender age.
Odunlade Adekola is originally from Otun Ekiti, a small town in Ekiti state, but grew up in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun state, western Nigeria. Odunlade Adekola attended Saint John RCM Elementary School in Abeokuta, Ogun State, and received his first school leaving certificate.
After completing his undergraduate education, Odunlade Adekola attended Saint Peter’s College, Abeokuta, Ogun State, earning his West African high school diploma. After completing his elementary and secondary education, Odunlade Adekola joined Moshood Abiola Polytechnic in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria and earned a National Diploma Certificate.
Odunlade Adekola is currently married to Ruth Abosede Adekola and the marriage is blessed with beautiful children. Odunlade Adekola is a prolific film producer and mainly produces Yoruba films. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Odunlade Adekola Film Production. Through his production company, he was able to produce several films in Nigeria. The most notable film he has produced is “Adebayo Aremu”, in which he also appeared as the lead actor.
Odunlade Adekola started playing at a very tender age. According to him, he and his friend Tunde called for jokes in his church each anniversary, and this request was always fulfilled. He then wrote a “script” for a comedy play with only two characters.
Odunlade Adekola began his acting career in 1996 professionally. In the same year he joined the Association of Nigerian Theater Artists and was taught by the late Nollywood actress and producer Isola Durojaiye, also known as Alasari.
Odunlade Adekola has worked, directed, produced and directed several Yoruba films over the years, including Omo Colonel, Aroba, Oro, Sunday Dagboru, Monday Omo Adugbo, Taxi drivers: Oko Ashewo, Eku Meji, Kurukuru, Sunday Gboku Gboku, Adura, etc. In December 2015, he marked his entry into the Nigerian music industry.
Odunlade Adekola has won several awards for his acting career in Nigeria. In April 2014, he was honored at the Africa Movie Academy Awards for Best Actor in Yoruba.
In 2009 he won the award for Best Actor of the Year at the City People Entertainment Awards. In 2011, he was named Best Actor of the Year at the City People Entertainment Awards.
In 2014 he won the Best Actor (Yoruba) at the City People Entertainment Awards. In 2015, he won the Best Actor in a major role in the City People Entertainment Awards. In 2015, he was awarded Best Actor of the Year at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards.
